What is the Jones Field Playground Project?

The Jones Field Playground Project is an exciting initiative to create an accessible playground area in Alton, NH at Jones Field Recreation Area. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, inclusive space for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Why is this project important?

This project will enhance Alton’s community by:

Providing a recreational hub for sports, outdoor events, and social gatherings.

Creating a safe, inclusive space for everyone to play.

Encouraging physical activity with accessible walking trails and exercise stations.

How is the project being funded?

It is our goal to fund the project with little to no impact on local taxes through private donations, corporate sponsorships, fundraising, and grants. The Friends of Alton, NH Parks and Recreation are committed to a transparent and community-focused fundraising approach.

Donations from local businesses and private donors.

Corporate sponsorships and grant opportunities.

Community fundraising events **To be Announced** and online campaigns including QR codes and text-to-donate options.

How much will the project cost?

The estimated budget for the project is $300,000. This includes equipment removal, installation, and site preparation. A final project cost will be determined after vendor selection and discussions at a later stage in the project planning process.

After discussions with other Parks and Recreation departments in New Hampshire, this estimate falls in line with what they were quoted for similar projects. However, this estimate could come in at a lower cost with potential volunteer and construction donations.

More information will be shared as we learn more.

NOTE:  This is only a projected budget, not an actual budget.  An actual budget, which may be less than the proposed, will be determined later in the planning process.

How can I donate?

Friends of Alton, NH Parks and Recreation are in the process of becoming a 501(c)(3).

Our donations page is coming soon! You will be able to donate online using our secure donation page **to be announced**. We also accept checks payable to Friends of Alton Parks and Recreation. Please mail checks to PO Box 129 Alton, NH 03809.

How can I volunteer?

Community Volunteers – We’re always looking for community members to assist with fundraising, event planning, and spreading the word!

When will the project be completed?
