ALTON – The Friends of Alton Parks and Recreation — a group seeking 501(c)(3) status dedicated to enhancing recreational opportunities and fostering community connections in Alton — recently released plans to bring a new, accessible playground to Jones Field. This initiative aims to upgrade the current playground to a modern, inclusive play space that serves the needs of children, families, and the entire community.
The group’s vision is to create a safe and welcoming area where children of all ages and abilities can play and families can come together. To ensure this project reflects the needs and priorities of Alton residents, the group is asking for input through a community survey, which will come out in January.
The primary goal is to fully fund the project without impact on local taxes through private donations, corporate sponsorships, fundraising, and grants.
